Goldfield Ghost Town

Goldfield Ghost Town is "the valley's only authentic ghost town" and a great place to get that 1890's old west experience. The Narrow Gauge Train takes you on a scenic ride around the town and through the desert.  Tour the Goldfield Mine, pan for gold and keep what you find.  This Wild West town has over 20 shops, exhibits and attractions from the old west.  The saloon has tasty food and entertainment in the evenings.

Goldfield is located at the base of the Superstition Mountains, 15 minutes from Mesa, and 40 minutes from Phoenix.  It is open daily from 10 am to 5 pm; (480) 983-0333; www.goldfieldghosttown.com.

  1. We actually have an attraction very similar to this in Australia. It's called Sovereign Hill, and it's located on our old gold fields. It's a recreation of one of the old gold rush towns and you can pan for gold, and keep whatever you find.

  2. Hey, I thought of you recently when I was watching Billy Connolly's Route 66 special. I was reminded because of his visit to Arizona and also his visit to a ghost town. Well, it was a ghost town with one live inhabitant anyway. :) I think you'd really enjoy that program. Here's a trailer:
