Miami, Arizona is a small town with a population of 1,841 and located in Gila County. It once was a booming western copper town but now those copper mines lay dormant. The old downtown has been renovated, and with its low-cost housing, more people are moving there to enjoy that small town feeling.
Just 7 miles or so from Miami is Globe, Arizona. Globe's population as of 2005 was 7,187. The town was founded in 1875 and was a mining camp. Most of the residence that live there are retirees. Globe depends on tourism, mining and other resources for their economy.
Tomorrow, I will be taking a day trip with Sharon (Autumnforest), Debe Branning and Sharon's ghost hunting partner, Ginny. I have been through both towns but never stopped for anything more than gas or something to eat on my way the the White Mountains. Sharon assures me that both towns have haunted places, abandoned buildings, great cemeteries and antique shops. Look for not only my posts, pictures and videos but Sharon's as well on her blog, Ghost Hunting Theories.

I have such spring fever! Hope we get to hit a few cemeteries too! I'm looking forward to some good abandoned spots to photograph especially. With Debe as an expert tour guide, we'll know everything by the time we leave. She's like AZ's biggest historical fact finder.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad we are going with Debe. I just might learn more about Globe and Miami....facts that I never knew.
ReplyDeleteShe really does spend every free minutes studying the true stories of AZ so people quit passing around the crazy legends and she can find where the real ghosts are. She's going to tell you about Ruby and it will creep you out. Next time we do the Hotel San Carlos downtown, we should all go together. We can hit the rooftop pool and have a nice time before we start the serious hunt in the evening. It's a good one to do in the summer when rates are cheap and we have the place to ourselves.
ReplyDeleteI would love to stay there with you guys and go on a ghost hunt. Mike and I were going to spend the night there last year but finances and his job prevented it from happening.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful trip! I look forward to your pictures and stories.
ReplyDeleteDitto Jessica's comment. You guys are bound to have a blast. Looking forward to your posts!
