The show that featured his clients was on last season and titled "Desperate Households". Basically, Mark was contacted by the show looking for new cases. His clients were not sure if they wanted to do the show at first, but warmed up to the idea later. What happened after the Paranormal State team got to their house was nothing but a big disappointment and disaster.

**Note: We don't know if this article is true or not but it does raise the question about the legitimacy of these ghost huntings shows. It's not so much about the evidence being faked but the shear professionalism of the ghost hunting team.

ReplyDeletewell, that's no good!
ReplyDeleteWow how sad. It only adds to my previous post about Ghost Hunters and movies like Paranormal Activity.
ReplyDeleteThe unfortunate fact of the matter is we cannot 100% trust or believe what we see on TV anymore. ESPECIALLY in these Ghost Hunting type shows. I mean this is 2009...we have capabilities to do ANYTHING in front of a camera. We can trick audiences and pretend everything is randy dandy when clearly, as stated in this article, it isn't.
It saddens me to see where this field has gone. It's all be comericialized now, it has lost almost ALL of it's credibility with ridiculous shows like Paranormal State and Ghost Adventures. Now Ghost Hunters is slowly joining that crowd. It's like these groups are being paid off or have been fake the whole time. Who knows now?
These shows are now giving skeptics a good case.
Which sucks.

I am really not at all surprised. Have you ever noticed how many "coincidences" they constantly have? They happen to pull up the right name, they happen to show up on the anniversary of a death, an important person happens to call them that knows something...Everything on that show always ties up oh so neatly. It's never been based on reality, but what disturbs me a great deal as someone who takes the counseling part of ghost hunting very seriously is how they incite the families, work them up, promote dramatics, and drag them into the investigation to get even more worked up. Then, they say a happy little prayer, sprinkle holy water, and walk away. It's really very Jerry Springer and most ugly.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that I don't watch this show. I have caught a few eppys of it now and then but not a regular watcher. I have always known what you thought of the show, Mike, you have let it be known on many occasions. I'm glad to hear your opinion too Autumn because I know that you have watched this show before.
ReplyDeleteIt seems like lately some of the ghost hunting shows have been coming under fire for either their professionalism or possibly faking evidence. I am a big watcher of some of these shows and I'm disappointed if this is true. As I said before, I will continue to watch GH, GHI and yes even GA for entertainment in hoping for some great evidence to show itself.
I echo Marbella's sediments, that's no good!
